Atlantic champ Zwolsman gets drive

2005 Toyota Atlantic champion Charles Zwolsman will have his first drive in a Champ Car at this weekend's Mexico City round in a third Team Australia car

26 year-old Dutchman Zwolsman won this year's Atlantic series, taking three wins and eight podiums in twelve rounds.

Zwolsman's 2005 season has seen him nominated for the Greg Moore Legacy award alongside Champ Car regulars Jimmy Vasser, Oriol Servia and Andrew Ranger.

"Charles has obviously done an outstanding job in the Toyota Atlantic Series this season and we are pleased that we are in a position to offer him a ride in Mexico," said Team Australia co-owner Derrick Walker.

Fellow team co-owner Craig Gore was equally enthusiastic: "Team Australia is all about providing opportunities for young talent and we are more than happy to welcome Charles into our team this weekend.

"He might not be Australian, but he is obviously talented and it would be great if the job he does this weekend helps him secure a full-time Champ Car ride next season."

Zwolsman's one-off drive comes after a reported split between Team Australia and driver Marcus Marshall, who signed a two-year deal with the team earlier this year, in which "serious and substantial breaches" were made by Marshall leading to the termination of his contract.
