Andretti nears Indy deal...
Michael Andretti's plans to race in the Indianapolis 500 are coming closer to fruition, but his fellow Champ Car star Mauricio Gugelmin now looks less likely to compete
Andretti is expected to line-up in a second Panther Racing Dallara-Oldsmobile alongside regular driver Sam Hornish Jr.
"It's still not put together, but we're getting closer," said Andretti. "It's got to happen soon, obviously. I have to be able to do at least some trsting."
Gugelmin was hoping to enter the Indy 500 in a Treadway Racing car run by his regular PacWest CART crew, but the deal now appears to have fallen through.
"I'm still on standby, but I don't think it's going to happen this year," he said. "Indianapolis is a race I would really like to do, but it has to be under the right circumstances."
Team Penske and Chip Ganassi Racing are the only CART teams to confirm their plans to enter the Indy 500 this season. Ganassi won the event last year with Juan Montoya.
