So much for Latvala's big push on hard tyres... He said: "I felt I could do something on this stage and push, but when you look at the time of Seb, something wasn't correct. This is the favourite stage of him (Ogier), but we could have gone a bit faster."
Mikkelsen quickest in split two. Quick reminder - he's on four hards.
Deposed leader Tanak said: "That was a tricky one. I thought we had a puncture on the Tarmac when we got a tyre alarm. It was a bit concerning."

Tyres left with a bit more meat on them than Ogier - who was on the same mixed set-up.
Meeke +0.4s to Hanninen at split one.

Latvala +9.2s to Ogier at the final split.
Neuville, who is now 11.2s down on Ogier after SS2, said: "I lost [the tyres] 10km into the stage. I tried to push hard, but I was close to going wide in a couple of places. We survived, but this was not the right choice for the stage."

The tyres are completely finished.
Ogier's out and has a good look around at the tyres, two of the four are scrubbed: "I really struggled at the end of the stage, maybe I'm going to lose there, but it was OK."
Back to SS2, Suninen fastest again in WRC2 - he leads from Kopecky by 17.2s. Tempestini third 30.3s off the lead.
Neuville last split +10.1s - clearly his softs are hurting him badly.

Lappi's split one is in and he's 0.2s down on his quickest team-mate Hanninen.
Latvala +2.6 and Sordo +3.8 at split 2.

Let's wait for Lappi, this could be something special from the Yaris-driving Finn on hard tyres...
Tanak looking like he could lose his lead here, he's +6.2 to Ogier at split 3
New fastest first split for Lappi - he's 0.4 up on Tanak!
More SS3 splits: Neuville +6.2 at split 3

Tanak +1.0 at spit 2

Latvala +2.6s at split 2

Sordo +1.1 at split 1

Evans -0.2s at split 1

All splits to Ogier, who is now through split 4 and on his way to the finish.
The ones to look out for towards the end of this stage will be: all three Toyotas (Latvia, Lappi and Hanninen), Sordo and Mikkelsen. These are the drivers with four hards.

Neuville is the only driver running four softs. All Citroens, plus Ogier and Tanak are running a mix of hard and soft.
After the madness of overlapping stages one and two, there's a moment for a breather here as we're into the longest stage (Latvala's through split one, by the way).

Away from the intensity of the rally itself, there's non-stop chatter about who goes where next season. Ogier remains the key player, but he admitted he'd put future employment to the back burner as soon as he landed in Barcelona.

"I hoped to have made a decision by now but it's not easy for anyone," Ogier said. "We are all dependant on big groups, or manufacturers, which don't take decisions very quickly, and that is making the discussions quite long. Let's say this ping-pong exchange is going slower than expected.

"This week I have things on my mind that are even more important. I need to focus on the rally, I need to achieve a good result and I want to make one more step towards my next title. And that's what matters the most right now."

Now, back to SS3...
Overall after SS2: 1 Tanak 11m21.6s; 2 Ostberg +2.2s; 3 Meeke +2.3s; 4 Neuville +2.7s; 5 Mikkelsen +4.3s; 6 Sordo +5.7; 7 Ogier +6.1s; 8 Evans +7.2s; 9 Latvia +7.7s; 10 Lappi +9.0s.
Ogier through first split of SS3, 4m38.8s at 8.20km.
Ostberg wound up about more dust coming into the car. "I'm angry. We start the rally and the car is full of dust. I try to find it, but it must be a big, big hole. I cannot see in the car. I could have been much faster. It's typical that it's something."

No jokes about eating dust this time.
Four splits in Terra Alta at: 8.20; 18.50; 27.50 and 33.40 kilometres.
Ostberg fourth fastest in SS2, stays second overall by 0.1s from Meeke.
Looking back to SS1, storming time from Teemu Suninen in WRC2 - 12.5s faster than Kopecky. Tempesting is third, +19s and Guerra +27.4s.
The big one’s coming up. Terra Alta (SS3) starts in a few minutes. At 24.20 miles, this is the stage around which people have based their tyre strategy for the morning. Currently temperatures are hovering in the mid-20s with clear blue skies.

There are five surface changes in this predominantly gravel test – but the trickiest place is a four-mile section of asphalt in the middle. This rises and drops up and down a hill with plenty of tight, twisty corners. By the time the crews are back on gravel for the last section, their tyres will be well worn…
Meeke on his fastest time: "It was good. It's more about the feeling in the car than the time for me. I'm enjoying it. There's not as much cleaning as you'd imagine."
Mikkelsen: "It was OK. I'm really surprised at how it's not cleaning. I really expected more from this stage. I had three hards and a soft tyre for this stage (plus a hard in the boot). I had to do that, I needed the four softs for the long one."
News from Toyota Finns Lappi and Hanninen, who are1.4s and 4.9s off fastest respectively.

Lappi: "I'm learning, I felt I was cleaner and got into this stage more than the first one. It should be better for the tyre on the next one."

Hanninen: "It was so slippery! I am trying to push, but when I push then I lose the line. It's not so easy..."
Evans: "Few little issues to sort. There was something on the launch, something strange, it's not a problem."
