WRC Italy, Barcelona MotoGP

Moto3 - Barcelona: Oliveira emerged from a typically busy first corner with the lead, ahead of Navarro, Vazquez and Bastianini - but they're about five/six abreast done the pits straight as they complete lap one, so give this a while to settle.
Moto3 - Barcelona: The field is lining up on the grid minus Qatar winner Alexis Masbou, who couldn't get his bike started so is joining from the pitlane.
WRC - Italy: A very perky Latvala goes quickest on this stage.

"You have to keep fighting to get yourself warmed-up for the powerstage, and Mads is having a problem so you never know - if you cruise too much you could end up too many seconds behind."

At this rate he probably won't catch Ostberg - the Citroen was half a minute slower by the split but had 2m23s in hand. It'll be pretty close by the end of the powerstage, though.
WRC - Italy: Meeke looks like he'll be fastest of the Rally 2 bunch on SS2. The lead runners are just about to begin the stage.
Moto3 - Barcelona: Our first race of the day in Spain isn't far away.

Moto3 qualifying is always a bit of an adventure, and yesterday race control hinted it could've penalised most of the field for dawdling on the racing line trying to wait for tows, which were all the more important with a long straight and high winds.

Through it all came this man to take pole - rising Italian star Enea 'The Beast' Bastianini starts first for Gresini.

Runaway championship leader Danny Kent and Jorge Navarro join him on the front row.

Quick-but-crash-prone Niccolo Antonelli, Mugello winner Miguel Oliveira and veteran Efren Vazquez fill row two, then teenage sensation Fabio Quartararo heads row three.

After showing better form at home, Romano Fenati - lead rider for Valentino Rossi's VR46 team - is back in 13th, but tends to fare better in the races.
WRC - Italy: We're into the final two stages in Italy. The focus on SS22 is basically going to be Ostberg and what sort of pace he can maintain in his damaged Citroen - will he lose fifth to Latvala?

Everyone else is likely to take it pretty easy, Mikkelsen just came through 20s slower than Kubica purely because he's trying to save every bit of tyre grip possible for a massive push on the powerstage.
FR3.5 - Hungaroring: Formula Renault Eurocup race winner Bruno Bonifacio encountered trouble with a differential on his Draco car that limited him to 19th in this morning's qualifying session.
FR3.5 - Hungaroring: Today's pole winner Matthieu Vaxiviere had been under investigation from race officials for blocking, but news has come through that no further will be taken on the matter.
MotoGP - Barcelona: This man in the nifty sunglasses looks happy after qualifying third yesterday.

And that's fair enough after winning three races on the bounce, only being beaten by the soft-shod Suzukis in qualifying and showing the sort of ominous practice pace all weekend that's left his rivals convinced he's going to be tough to beat this afternoon.

Could this be the day Jorge Lorenzo moves into the MotoGP championship lead?

FR3.5 - Hungaroring: Race one winner Egor Orudzhev, who as on Saturday will line-up second on the grid, is confident of making another good start.

"It seems we have worked on the car a lot in the winter to make it really good and we have also changed the clutch [settings] this year which helps a lot."

Asked if he had recovered after his draining effort to achieve victory in race one, Orudzhev replied:

"I feel fine, I think I showed it in qualifying. The race is long, so I have to see the laptimes. I have to improve physically for the next races but the car is brilliant. I could have been on pole but I made a mistake in one corner."
FR3.5 - Hungaroring: Championship leader Oliver Rowland reported no serious dramas on way to fifth in this morning's qualifying session.

"We changed a few things from race one and I just didn't feel as comfortable as yesterday," said Rowland. "But we can still race from fifth and I think we can make up some places at Turn 1.
WRC - Italy: And the WRC2 lead (and seventh overall) changes again! Andreucci drops 8s to Protasov on this stage and is now 1.7s behind overall.

Andreucci says he managed to fix the water leak after the last stage but he drove carefully on that one with one eye on water levels and temperatures.
MotoGP - Barcelona: Into the final minutes of the warm-up, and Pol Espargaro skates over the Turn 10 gravel and nudges into the tyre wall. He gets going again with some help from the marshals, staying upright all the way.
WRC - Italy - SS21 results:

Stage times:

1 Ogier 7m36.3s
2 Mikkelsen +0.3s
3 Tanak +2.6s
4 Latvala +3.4s
5 Neuville +4.1s
6 Meeke +7.1s

Overall leaderboard:

1 Ogier
2 Paddon +2m19.7s
3 Neuville +4m06.7s
4 Evans +5m22.9s
5 Ostberg +5m48.2s
6 Latvala +8m11.8s
WRC - Italy: Little bit of a powerstage rehearsal for Ogier? He sets the fastest time by three tenths over Mikkelsen. The champ does like to take a full 28 points rather than a mere 25 when he can.

"I pushed a little bit more just to check the notes," he admits. "The next one I'll be cruising again."
WRC - Italy: Ostberg says his problem is now "more than brakes" but declines to elaborate on that.

He's fallen 25s behind Evans but still has 2m23s over Latvala in sixth. But at his current pace, that's a vulnerable margin over the last two stages, and lingering problems on cars tend to get worse not better as you keep driving.
MotoGP - Barcelona: We do get to see Vinales's crash now and it was pretty mild by MotoGP standards. A dirty bike but it's still mostly in one piece.
WRC - Italy: Ostberg has lost nearly a minute and a half, and that also means he's lost fourth place to Evans.
WRC - Italy: Neuville is through safely. Hyundai is now on course for second and third places and led the majority of the rally. That'll do for a team still using an upgraded version of its old car as others bring all-new machines.
MotoGP - Barcelona: No replay of Vinales's crash yet, but it was at the Turn 10 left-hander at the end of the back straight.
MotoGP - Barcelona: Vinales just went fastest in the warm-up for Suzuki, but then crashed immediately afterwards.

He's OK but that's not ideal.

Lorenzo now demotes Vinales from the top spot too.
WRC - Italy: Looks like Ostberg is struggling with leftover damage following his crash on the last stage. He's 37.7s down on the lead pace at this stage's only split.

He only had a 50s margin over fifth-placed Evans going onto this stage, and there's no service for the rest of the day.

Not only is Citroen going to lose its podium, Ostberg could be right down to fifth if he can even finish.
FR3.5 - Hungaroring: Lotus protege Matthieu Vaxiviere strengthened his FR3.5 title bid with pole for race two this morning, but rookie Egor Orudzhev - victorious star of yesterday's five-way tussle - is very quick again.

Here's the full qualifying rundown from PETER MILLS:

Hungaroring FR3.5 race two qualifying report

Matthieu Vaxiviere, Lotus, Hungary FR3.5 2015

WRC - Italy: The Rally 2 crowd have made their way through today's second stage, Cala Flumini, and first-on-the-road man Mikkelsen is fastest so far.

His 7m36.6s is 2.3s up on Tanak and 6.8s quicker than Meeke.

Latvala is the first of the actual top six runners onto the stage, but so far no one looks like they'll challenge Mikkelsen.

This one is going to be the bonus points powerstage later today.
MotoGP - Barcelona: The warm-up is just beginning at a sunny Barcelona.

Most believe Jorge Lorenzo has the best race pace again, but the qualifying hero Suzukis have a point to prove too. More of that later...
FR3.5 - Hungaroring: Lotus F1 junior driver Matthieu Vaxiviere claims his third pole of the season.

1 Vaxiviere; 2 Orudzhev; 3 Jaafar; 4 Merhi; 5 Rowland; 6 Malja.
FR3.5 - Hungaroring: The fastest time has changed hands between four drivers within a minute.

Vaxiviere is currently P1, from Orudzhev, Jaafar, Merhi, Rowland and Malja.
FR3.5 - Hungaroring: Malja's provisional pole time is 1.6s slower than Rowland's Saturday pole, so big improvements can be expected in the final four minutes of action.
FR3.5 - Hungaroring: Cars are now venturing back out on track.

Fortec racer Rowland's team-mate Jazeman Jaafar is last, and both DAMS drivers will also be searching for an improvement in pace.

McLaren protege Nyck de Vries, who encountered traffic in qualifying yesterday and could only manage 18th on the grid, is 14th, one place ahead of Dean Stoneman.
WRC - Italy: Maybe this WRC2 battle is back on... Andreucci may have retaken the lead, but he reached the stage end with a lot of fluid spilling from his Peugeot.

And Yazeed Al-Rahji, who had been 10th overall and fourth in WRC2 overnight, has stopped on the stage.
WRC - Italy - SS20 results:

Stage times:

1 Paddon 8m10.7s
2 Latvala +2.1s
3 Evans +2.2s
4 Ogier +2.3s
5 Sordo +4.6s
6 Tanak +6.4s

Overall leaderboard:

1 Ogier
2 Paddon +2m11.3s
3 Neuville +4m01.6s
4 Ostberg +4m24.8s
5 Evans +5m15.4s
6 Latvala +8m08.4s
FR3.5 - Hungaroring: As is the norm, most of the field have stopped in the pits before heading out for a final run on new tyres.

Strakka Racing's Gustav Malja remains fastest on a time of 1m30.464s, 0.342s ahead of race one runner-up Roberto Merhi.

This season's double winner Vaxiviere is third, from Orudzhev, Ellinas and Rowland.
WRC - Italy: Actually that battle didn't last long: Protasov picks up a puncture, Andreucci comes through 13s quicker and the Italian is back in the WRC2 lead.
WRC - Italy: Exciting stuff in WRC2 this morning - Paolo Andreucci lost his comfortable lead when his boot came open on a stage on Saturday afternoon, but he's been chasing down new leader Yuriy Protasov and ended yesterday just 7s behind.

They're fighting for seventh overall too as the WRC field has been in such strife.

While Protasov and Andreucci are fighting for the class win, the WRC2 pace is being set by the likes of Nasser Al-Attiyah and Esapekka Lappi, down the order after early incidents.
WRC - Italy: Meanwhile Paddon comes through and actually wins the stage. No chance of him catching Ogier now, but good for morale as he heads for what would be a brilliant second place.
WRC - Italy: Ostberg admits he's been off the road, blaming poor notes and losing one of the earplugs from his intercom system.

"I went wide in a corner with very bad pacenotes. A lot of things happened at the same time and I went off the road.

"The damage is not so bad but I completely lost my brakes, so that's why we lost so much time."

That all cost Ostberg - who was comfortably fastest on the split - 55s, so he's now 23s behind Neuville.

That's a lot to recover in 21 miles, especially if you have no brakes...
WRC - Italy: Reports from the stage suggest that Ostberg is driving with the boot open... and he's lost third to Neuville!
WRC - Italy: Neuville confirms he's not trying to hunt down Ostberg:

"There's no way to catch him, I'll try to keep the car on the road."
FR3.5 - Hungaroring: The session is back under way.

Swede Gustav Malja is fastest on a 1m30.469s, some 0.507s ahead of Matthieu Vaxiviere. The top six is completed by Tio Ellinas in third, Rowland, Saturday winner Egor Orudzhev and Pietro Fantin.
