Valencia MotoGP race day

Vinales will not want more rain, but others definitely do - Marc Marquez has been the best in the rain this weekend but Pramac duo Danilo Petrucci, Jack Miller, Valentino Rossi, Pol Espargaro and Aleix Espargaro also impressed in the wet.
The Espargaro brothers made this race quite important for both KTM and Aprilia as they start sixth and eighth and could achieve the best MotoGP result of those two brands.

We have Maverick Vinales starting from pole position, the Yamaha rider benefiting from the track drying up for FP4 and qualifying. However Vinales only targets a top seven in the wet, which sounds rather unambitious but he was only 11th in the Sunday morning warm-up, so he might be right.

It's a big day for Dani Pedrosa, who will complete his last MotoGP race before retirement. The weather couldn't have been worse for his farewell race but Pedrosa has been quite decent in the wet, to his 2018 standards at least. Regardless, it doesn't look likely that he will fight at the top from ninth on the grid.

Track conditions have been wet all day, and both Moto3 and Moto2 races were effectively crashfests - torrential rain was forecast for the MotoGP race so, naturally, it is currently not raining. The conditions are tricky anyway, and they certainly demand rain tyres.
