Pedrosa tries to fight back against Dovizioso but fourth place is the Ducati's. Zarco leads Lorenzo by 1.3s after the opening lap.
Rossi down in 13th, Tech3 stand-in van der Mark's had a good opening lap on his debut. He's up to 17th.
Dovizioso's fourth, ahead of Pedrosa. Bad opening half a lap for the poleman.
Marquez got a superb start from seventh but braked too late into Turn 1 and ran wide. Zarco's made a break for it, and Lorenzo's got ahead of the two Hondas in that opening-corner fun too.
Lights out! Pedrosa gets away brilliantly...Marquez into the lead at Turn 1!

But he runs deep, and Zarco exits the first corner ahead.
Outside the top 10, Bautista, Smith, Pol Espargaro, Redding and van der Mark also have the soft rear.
Only Pedrosa and Zarco on the soft rear of those starting in the top 10. Everyone else has mediums all round.
This is how they qualified:

1 Dani Pedrosa
2 Johann Zarco
3 Andrea Dovizioso
4 Valentino Rossi
5 Maverick Vinales
6 Jorge Lorenzo
7 Marc Marquez
8 Alex Rins
9 Andrea Iannone
10 Cal Crutchlow
11 Jack Miller
12 Pol Espargaro
13 Danilo Petrucci
14 Scott Redding
15 Alvaro Bautista
16 Bradley Smith
17 Loris Baz
18 Sam Lowes
19 Tito Rabat
20 Hector Barbera
21 Karel Abraham
22 Michael van der Mark
Pedrosa leads the field away for the formation lap – after stopping on that sighting lap, Petrucci's missed the pitlane exit window, so he'll have to start from the back.
This was Rossi's take on it: "It is very open, the fight for the victory and the fight for the podium because a lot of different riders for sure have the pace."
Remember this was already poised to be a fun race – Saturday's qualifying session was closely-contested, with the top three of Pedrosa, Zarco and Dovizioso split by just 0.024 seconds.

The top seven, including Rossi, Vinales, Lorenzo and Marquez, were also split by less than half a second.
It's been declared a wet race. Even the elements are keen to make this a grand prix to remember.
Rainy Sepang? Still need sunglasses if you're Marc Marquez. Looking chill on the grid. Underneath the shades, though, surely he's stressing as much as the rest over tyre choice?
It's already kicking off before the start of the race – Petrucci's stopped on a sighting lap.
That's right, rain in Malaysia. Who'd have thought it? Because sometimes MotoGP races are just a bit boring*, and you need something like the weather to spice things up...

*Sarcasm translates well over live commentary, right?
