DAVID EVANS: Following on from the previous post, here's Mats Jonsson's Mazda which he steered to victory.

Alongside the modern cars, there's been a historic rally this weekend with some familiar faces. Here's DAVID EVANS with a rundown.
"Twenty-four years after winning the Swedish Rally proper, Mats Jonsson was back on the top step of the podium at his home round of the World Rally Championship once again today – this time for winning Rally Sweden Historic.
"Driving a Mazda 323, Jonsson finished the seven-stage event 1m37.4s ahead of Patrik Sandell’s Ford Escort RS1800.
"The Rally Sweden Historic silverware was handed out in Torsby by Toyota Gazoo Racing team principal Tommi Makinen, himself a three-time winner of the WRC’s winter round. Makinen and Jonsson had plenty to talk about on the podium, not least Tommi’s own time in a 323.
“I drove 1,000 Lakes in one car,” he said, “and then I did RAC in car – maybe his [Jonsson’s] car. It was good until we got to Kielder in the night time. I came over a crest and it was complete ice, all ice and I went straight off the road. Kielder… tough place.”

- After having his lead cut to 3.8s by Tanak yesterday, Jari-Matti Latvala goes quickest on the first stage of the morning. The lead is up to 10.9s after taking 7.1s out of Tanak. He could have an issue with the differential.
- A spin at the first corner sends Sebastien Ogier out of the lead battle. He's over 40s behind after the mistake.
- Elfyn Evans' sixth place is under threat as he suffers with an engine problem. Paddon could take the place.

LATVALA TAKES 7.1s OUT OF TANAK!
The lead battle isn't over, but that's a psychological blow against Tanak.
The lead is up to 10.9s.
"I'm amazed. I have a very good feeling," says Latvala. "This morning the car feels great. We had a good talk yesterday with Tommi Makinen. He said 'you go out there you focus on the road and forget about the setup'."
That's the advice of a four time champion.
The lead battle isn't over, but that's a psychological blow against Tanak.
The lead is up to 10.9s.

Were only five minutes from getting underway so here's a stage guide from our man on the ground in Sweden, Autosport and Motorsport News Rallies Editor DAVID EVANS.
SS16/17 Likenas (13.14 miles)
"Never used in this direction before, this stretch of road hasn’t been seen on the Rally Sweden schedule since 2011.
"Starting close to a river just north of Ambjorby, the opening section is twisty and quite technical with lots of junctions before the road opens out and speeds up as it heads north.
"The middle section is really fast – particularly the run up to a square left which is about the most northerly stretch on the route. The finish gets twistier again as it comes down into Likenas itself."
