Indeed, Redding apparently wants to at least have a go, which puts him in the Miller camp. As far as we can tell, it's a two-man camp.
"Don't cry, let's race =)" is written on a clipboard in the Aprilia garage. If one of the two riders wrote that, money's on Scott Redding over Aleix Espargaro.

Safety representative Uncini: "Today we start the morning in the warm-up and was okay, was not raining, the water [from] yesterday disappeared - then start to rain a little bit, but in a very short time the water stand on the track, and start to cross the track in some turns, especially Turn 7 and Turn 8.
"Also when we went out, myself and Loris Capirossi, driving the car, we had the feeling driving the car that there was aquaplaning in these two places, also at Turn 2, and in that moment we said it was not possible to keep going.
Asked when to expect news, he says: "Shortly. I don't think we are going to- theoretically we could go up to 5pm, but I don't think we will go up to 5pm. Shortly we will know."

Some more non-weather news - Yamaha has confirmed specifications for the satellite SIC bikes of Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Quartararo next year.

Weather permitting, Silverstone wants to get the race in at 1.30, so starting in 36 minutes. Optimistic.

Some non-rain MotoGP news in case you missed them earlier this weekend.
First, KTM's Bradley Smith is choosing between test roles at Aprilia and Yamaha, and is understood to be leaning towards the former.
That position seemed at one point to be earmarked for Scott Redding, but he never seemed too keen - and his outburst at the RS-GP at the Red Bull Ring surely didn't help matters.

Weather update - still raining, naturally, but it's not as heavy as it was at its peak. The radars are providing faint hope it might ease up soon.
This all feels very NASCAR, except with the threat of an outright cancellation looming.

The official reasoning for no Monday race is that most attending marshals are already committed to other races that day.

Suzuki's Davide Brivio: "We're waiting for official information, official news. It's been considered the possibility to race tomorrow, but looks like it's not possible, it's difficult. Now we try to wait, as much as we can, to see if we can race later on.
"Of course it's very extreme, very difficult. The track is full of water, it doesn't seem it's going to improve. The only chance is maybe light rain or stop raining.
"Yesterday the track dried quite quickly. Was bad on FP4, but then after half an hour or 45 minutes, was already good - we did regular Q1 and Q2.
"The only chance is maybe stop raining or reduce very much the raining. Get a little bit dry, get the water away from the track and try to race."

The circuit says we'll have a decision one way or the other at the top of the hour.
Make that two BMW safety cars, actually. Eyeballing it, the white-liveried one seems to have the edge on the black one pace-wise.
The BMW safety car is back out on track for another stint.
Now that it's Sunday or bust, we could be in for the long haul here. Race director Webb said yesterday that the organisers are ready to "move the programme back until we've run out of daylight" and are open to "sacrificing" the other races on the itinerary.

Breaking news - there'll be a race today or there will be no race.

Ducati sporting director Paolo Ciabatti: "There was a meeting, organised by Dorna, an urgent meeting with team managers. As far as I understand, they said they would consider the possibility to race tomorrow, and they wanted to hear the opinion from the teams.
"Obviously teams have different opinion. We are in favour, if the weather forecast is good. I think we must respect the spectator, tomorrow is a bank holiday here in England, so the spectators could still come and enjoy the race.
"But in the end they didn't ask for the teams to vote, they just wanted to hear their opinion, and then Dorna, IRTA and FIM will decide what to do."

There's indeed some whispers that the organisers are exploring whether a Monday race could be a solution after all.

So, a meeting between IRTA, teams and Dorna in 22 minutes. That is... still a while. How hard is it to get everybody together in a room, I mean, they're probably not strolling around the track in these conditions.

Don't take this as news or a clear indication of how the situation will proceed here - for we don't know for sure - but our MotoGP editor Oriol Puigdemont is now re-booking his flight out.

Like me, you're probably thinking: 'They got the warm-up in today, so why on Earth didn't they try to get the race in as early as possible?!'
Here's MotoGP race director's Mike Webb answer to that very question yesterday: "We suggested an earlier warm-up, shorter warm-ups, anything to get the race underway earlier and the consensus of the teams was 'no, this is the schedule we want'.
"They are very constrained with time between warm-up and race, in preparation time, and also just the time of day to start warm-up. So this is what they've agreed to."

A contrarian voice in Pramac Ducati's Jack Miller; "For me a lot of people are a little bit scared, taking the easy route.
"A lot of guys are saying 'oh it was spinning, doing this, doing that'. A lot of them I passed on my out-lap already before Turn 3.
"Then a lot of guys are complaining about not getting temperature in the brakes. Well, if you're not using them, you're not going to get any temperature.
"My brakes worked perfectly fine. I looked for the dry line and I made quite a quick out-lap and I didn't really have any dramas, also for aquaplaning or anything. If you look for the drier part of the track and you ride there, it's not too bad.
"But of course that was before it started raining a little bit more. Now it looked as though there is even more standing water out there.
"But, you know, once the bikes get out there, start cleaning it, I think it can improve."

LCR Honda riders Crutchlow and Nakagami are entertaining themselves in the garage by holding up a 'let's race tomorrow!!!' note. Apparently that's not possible.
Michelin's Piero Taramasso says the puddles are "more than 15 millimetres", adds that the company "can work on something that evacuates a little bit more {water], but at some point you reach a limit. When the conditions are extreme, there is no tyre that can afford that".

Petrucci: "We did only the out-lap, already in the out-lap the situation was quite difficult. Turn 7 [Stowe] and 8 [Vale], where yesterday was a lot of water, today the situation was slightly better, but the problem was that in the rest of the track was more wet, like Turn 7 and 8 yesterday.
"The problem is that the water stay on track, and some parts, for example Turn 2 and 3 [Maggotts and Becketts section], you can't see the difference between the asphalt and kerb, and this is too dangerous.
"The safety of all riders is more important than a race. Yesterday, Tito, was a nasty, nasty crash - I was there, because I go straight into the gravel and when Tito was laying down, Morbidelli's bike arrived and hit Tito, was a nasty image.
"The problem was that there was a lot of water like today. And the situation can only be worse - because it's raining, a lot."

The safety car's still out there, chugging along. Would be good to see its laptimes.

Tech 3 boss Herve Poncharal: "We saw what happened yesterday afternoon during the FP4 session. Most of the riders came to the race direction after the sighting laps, and not one of them said it's safe to go now, they all said it's impossible to ride.
"Let's wait and see what's going to happen. The problem is we will have more rain in the next hour. So for sure there will be more standing water. What has been done on the drainage didn't really help, not enough. So clearly nobody really knows what to do.
"Again, when you saw what happened yesterday, nobody's going to take the decision to tell the riders, against their words, 'start the race'. Because you know that if you said 'start the race', almost everybody is going to start the race, but it might end up in carnage.
"Safety first. This is what we've been working on with IRTA and Dorna for almost 30 years. We don't want to imagine what could be happening after three laps.
"At the moment just wait and see. The only thing we can do is fingers crossed for less rain, but that's not the forecast."

Weather latest: the rain isn't as heavy as it was about 10 minutes ago, when the delay was announced. But it's still coming down at a fair rate, and it will have to ease off for any standing water to clear.
At least safety car is giving it a right go out there, and without really any major moments. Could settle it like that if they had 21 more.

Rossi: "Yeah, no way. Because already in the lap we do to arrive on the grid, have too much water.
"It's all the lap, and also on the back straight you have already aquaplaning. The problem is the water don't go away, don't drain. It's too dangerous."

MotoGP's BMW safety car is out there lapping at the moment, kicking up loads of water as it navigates the British circuit.
The grid has been cleared, with the bikes now covered up back in the pits. This could be a while.

"For me it's not safe to be able to race today," is Bradley Smith's verdict after his sighting lap. "With his amount of water, aquaplaning is horrific.
"Fingers crossed race direction makes the right decision. I'd love to race in front of my home crowd, but it needs to be done in a correct way."
