Rabat meanwhile hitches a lift from Espargaro back to the pits...
Well that was exciting. Folger and Vinales advance through to join Marquez, Pedrosa, Bautista, A.Espargaro, Dovizioso, Lorenzo, Iannone, Redding, Petrucci and Barbera in the battle for pole.
Zarco was also less than a tenth away from a Q2 spot, but it's 14th on the grid for the rookie Frenchman while Tech3 team-mate Folger advances.
Just 0.040s split Rossi and Vinales there.
Folger and Vinales secure a place in Q2. Rossi misses out and will start 13th.

Rossi improves to fourth, 0.083s off of a place inside the top two.

Crutchlow has crashed at Turn 10, meanwhile.

Unfortunately, Smith has been declared unfit for the rest of the grand prix.

Vinales improves to a 1m44.621s to go 0.138s clear of third-placed Zarco.
Vinales is on a personal best sector. Looks more comfortable than he did this morning. Meanwhile, Rossi ran hot at Turn 1 exiting the pits.
Baz tucks in behind Vinales for a nice tow, we'll soon see what effect that has...

Guintoli was feeling under the weather, so has gone to the Clinica Mobile. He will not be out in this session.
Everyone heading back out again, except Guintoli and Rossi.
Soft tyres all round for Zarco, and if the last couple of rounds have been any guide, he'll be circulating for more or less the rest of the session.
Lowes has finally taken to the track.

Lowes is a clearly frustrated figure in his Aprilia garage. The team has given up on getting the first bike started and are setting up his number two machine. Just over six minutes to go.
Rossi crosses the line to go fifth fastest, 0.202 seconds off the pace.
Folger is 0.695s clear at the front, with Vinales and Miller split by two tenths.

Folger lowers the benchmark to a 1m44.239s. Vinales, Miller, Crutchlow, Abraham top five. Eight minutes to go.
Zarco still in the pits as the first round of flying laps end, as is Guintoli.

Seems it is a fuel pump problem for Lowes.
Trouble for Sam Lowes, doesn't look like his primary Aprilia wants to start. He's had a couple of little mechanical gremlins so far this season, including at Jerez Q1 last month.
Medium front and soft rear for Vinales, whereas Rossi takes a hard front and soft rear - the same combination as Crutchlow.

Q1 has gone green. As always, the top two from this session will gain entry into the second part of qualifying.

Grip has been lacking from the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, so much so we saw five crashes in the 30-minute fourth free practice.
You'll notice four Yamaha riders in that Q1 group. Unbelievably, it is the first time in the history of the qualifying format that all Yamaha riders have failed to make the Q2 cut in FP3.
You may have noticed Bradley Smith's name absent from that list. After a pretty heavy fall in FP4, it looks like the KTM rider will be sitting out qualifying.

This weekend has been busy for all involved so far. After a meeting of the Safety Commission on Friday night, it was agreed that the Formula 1 chicane at the end of the circuit would be used for the rest of the weekend following safety concerns about the new-for-2017 chicane.
