Marquez hasn't broken away as feared, which will be of great encouragement to third-placed Dovizioso.
Abraham has crashed out. The Nieto rider is down at Turn 1.
Further down the order, Iannone is running sixth on the sole remaining Suzuki, Petrucci has gotten ahead of Rossi, who is fending off Miller. Morbidelli completes the top 10. 15 laps to go.
Bit of a moment for Dovi as he heads into the Pons corner, but Pedrosa was not close enough to capitalise.
Dovizioso moves ahead of Pedrosa to take third at the last corner.
Pedrosa and Dovizioso have to clear Lorenzo as quickly as possible. Marquez was fast and consistent on long runs in practice.
Marquez makes his move and leads the Spanish Grand Prix at the start of lap nine.
Crutchlow's hopes of becoming the first British rider to win a premier class race from pole since 1981 have come to an end. This has promoted Dovizioso to fourth.
Rossi and Petrucci trade eighth spot at the Nieto and Peluqui corners.
Rins' demise has eased the pressure on fourth-placed Crutchlow somewhat, as the Suzuki rider was reeling in the poleman.
Rins has crashed for the third time this season. He's gone down at Turn 11.
Marquez piles the pressure on Lorenzo as they start lap six, but the Ducati rider holds firm. How long will that soft front tyre last for the Ducati man?
Zarco runs wide at the Dry Sac corner, looks to already be struggling with his medium front tyre. Rins and Dovizioso have moved ahead of him as a result.
Dovizioso is quietly coming into contention. The Italian has taken sixth from Rins.
Further back, Vinales has slid to 13th, with Smith and Bautista behind him. Lorenzo continues to lead on lap four.
Lorenzo has gone with the soft front tyre. That is a huge gamble from the Ducati rider. Marquez scythes past Pedrosa for second at Criville corner.
Zarco ran it wide at the final corner and allowed Marquez to move ahead. It's a Spanish 1-2-3 on lap three in Jerez.
Aleix Espargaro has retired. Mechanical issue with his Aprilia.
Marquez takes fourth from Crutchlow at the last corner. Lorenzo still leads as they start lap two.
Points leader Dovizioso remains in eighth, Pedrosa and Zarco shadow Lorenzo. All riders through the first few corners cleanly.
Lorenzo takes the lead, poleman Crutchlow shuffled back to fourth.
Crutchlow has opted for the hard rear. Pedrosa and Zarco are on the medium. Surprisingly, both factory Yamaha riders have opted for the medium/medium combination. No one has dared gone with the soft tyre.
This weekend, the Jerez circuit was renamed in honour of the late Spanish motorcycle racing legend Angel Nieto. On lap 13 the fans will erupt into applause in memory of the 12+1 champion.
Track temperatures are well over 40 degrees as Jerez bakes under the Spanish sun. Tyre life will be key to success in this race. Most look like they will opt for the hard or medium rear tyre, though Zarco did go to the grid on a soft.

Cal Crutchlow will start from pole position, his first since Silverstone 2016. Dani Pedrosa and Johann Zarco will start alongside, while Marc Marquez will launch from fifth.

MotoGP Jerez: Marquez tops warm-up but crashes again
Before we get into the build-up the main event, we've had two races already at Jerez today.

In the Moto3, Philipp Oettl took his first grand prix victory after fending off new championship leader Marco Bezzecchi. Drama unfolded behind when Aron Canet collided with title rival Jorge Martin in the closing stages.

In Moto2, Lorenzo Baldassarri eased to his and the Pons team's first win in the class since 2016, while the MotoGP-bound Miguel Oliveira rose from 14th on the grid to second. Francesco Bagnaia maintained his championship lead with a third-place finish. Alex Marquez crashed out.
