Lorenzo dives down the inside of Marquez at Turn 1. It works out very briefly but he can't keep the inside line shut and Marquez retakes the spot - only for Lorenzo to make the move stick a few corners later.
Seven laps down, 14 to go. The status quo is holding out front.
The top-four breakaway has not materalised, as it's now back to a single-file pack race between the first 11 riders.
Running order: 1 Dovizioso; 2 Rossi; 3 Marquez; 4 Lorenzo; 5 Petrucci; 6 Crutchlow; 7 Zarco; 8 Rins; 9 Iannone; 10 Pedrosa; 11 Rabat; 12 Bautista; 13 Miller; 14 Syahrin; 15 Morbidelli; 16 Redding, 17 A Espargaro; 18 Luthi; 19 Nakagami; 20 Guintoli; 21 Abraham; 22 Simeon.
Danilo Petrucci's 1m56.975s is the first sub-1m57s lap of the race thus far. It's been a very cautious start, pace-wise.
The top four are flying in formation now, with Petrucci just about there with them. The rest of the pack look to be dropping off.
Marquez wide at the Turn 10 right-hander, compromises Crutchlow as a result. The Briton is passed by Petrucci - and Zarco has now demoted him as well.
Dovizioso is running a mid-1m57s pace out front, which is at least a second slower than what was expected. It's keeping the pack bunched up.
The Vinales - Smith - Bradl wipeout will be looked at by the stewards.
Marquez misjudges an overtake attempt on Rossi and gets passed by Lorenzo instead.
Current top 10 is Dovizioso, Rossi, Marquez, Lorenzo, Crutchlow, Petrucci, Zarco, Rins, Iannone, Pedrosa.
Rossi back through on Dovizioso round the outside! Marquez and Lorenzo are sticking with them, just as Dovizioso reclaims the spot once more.
Vinales limping off slightly, but nobody looks seriously hurt or winded, thankfully.
A three-bike crash in the mid-pack! Bradl, Smith and Maverick Vinales are all out.
Dovizioso managed to keep second place and he has already muscled his way back past his compatriot for the lead.
There was a request from MotoGP to fans to not light flares during the race (as it hurts visibility), and already on the warm-up lap that request has gone right out the window.
The warm-up lap is now underway. No sign of rain just yet, but the clouds are dark and the wind is strong.
It's hard front and hard rear for Marquez, Dovizioso, Lorenzo, Crutchlow, Petrucci. The only rider to buck the trend in the top six is Rossi, who will run medium-hard.
MotoGP standings (top 10): 1 Marquez, 165; 2 Rossi, 119; 3 Vinales, 109; 4 Dovizioso, 88; 5 Zarco, 88; 6 Lorenzo, 85; 7 Petrucci, 84; 8 Crutchlow, 79; 9 Iannone, 75; 10 Miller, 57.
There were championship lead changes in both of the lower grand prix racing categories today.

In Moto3, Fabio Di Giannantonio fought off Aron Canet to claim his first win, while sixth for Marco Bezzecchi was enough to leave him top of the standings in the injured Jorge Martin's absence.

Tech 3-bound KTM protege Miguel Oliveira defeated Luca Marini in Moto2, and overhauled Pecco Bagnaia in the standings despite the future Pramac Ducati rider also finishing on the podium,
Riders are out on their sighting laps now. It's been a weekend of very hot weather so far - but the conditions for the race will be cooler, overcast, with rain a possibility.
Grid: 1 Dovizioso; 2 Rossi; 3 Marquez; 4 Lorenzo; 5 Crutchlow; 6 Petrucci; 7 Zarco; 8 Iannone; 9 Rins; 10 Pedrosa; 11 Rabat; 12 Vinales; 13 Morbidelli; 14 Bautista; 15 Smith; 16 Syahrin; 17 Miller; 18 Bradl; 19 Nakagami; 20 Guintoli; 21 Luthi; 22 Abraham; 23 A Espargaro; 24 Redding; 25 Simeon.
Bradley Smith will be the sole KTM representative in the race today, as Pol Espargaro has had to withdraw after breaking his collarbone in a warm-up crash.

KTM's injury roster already includes test rider Mika Kallio, who damaged his knee ligaments in a crash at the Sachsenring.
MotoGP Brno: Espargaro breaks collarbone in warm-up, out of race
Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo made it a Ducati 1-2 in morning warm-up, although the three riders that followed them – Marquez, Cal Crutchlow and Maverick Vinales – were slightly more consistent in their pace.

While Valentino Rossi looks to have sworn off the soft rear tyre “gamble”, Vinales used the compound in warm-up so will probably be giving it a go. He might as well – he starts only 12th.
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Czech Republic Grand Prix, the first MotoGP race since the series' three-week summer break.

Andrea Dovizioso will start from pole position and should target a first Ducati win at Brno since Casey Stoner in 2007.

He looks to have good pace but is bound to face stern opposition from championship leader Marc Marquez, with the pair emerging as favourites based on race pace runs in practice.
