MotoGP - Misano: We'll always wonder what Simoncelli would be achieving now had he survived, and both he and Tomizawa will be very much in riders' minds today.

There's a very good chance of some Italian success at the track named in Simoncelli's honour.

Rossi has looked quick all weekend and starts third - amazingly his first time on the front row all year.

The Ducatis of Andrea Iannone and Andrea Dovizioso qualified second and sixth respectively, and the Desmosedici is hanging on in the lead pack in race conditions increasingly well too.
ELMS - Paul Ricard: The leading duo are hitting traffic for the first time and Tincknell makes good use of it to take the lead!
ELMS - Paul Ricard: Fifteen minutes of this four-hour race completed and Derani continues to lead the way. He's going like the clappers at the front of the field, with Tincknell now 0.901s adrift in second. Pierre Regues is currently third in the Newblood Morgan-Judd.
MotoGP - Misano: As the Moto2 race ends, time to reflect on two lost talents always in everyone's minds at Misano.

It was in this race four years ago that rising star Shoya Tomizawa lost his life, while riding for the CIP team that still fields his then-team-mate Aegerter, and the track has been named in honour of the late Marco Simoncelli.

If you want some poignant reading in the little lull before the DTM, FR3.5 and MotoGP races all kick off, here are TOBY MOODY's tributes to Tomizawa and Simoncelli.
ELMS - Paul Ricard: And just as we say that Gregoire Demoustier moves up to second in the ART McLaren.
ELMS - Paul Ricard: Leading GTC at the moment is Krill Ladygin in the #71 SMP Ferrari. Maurizio Mediani is keeping him honest in the sister SMP car.
ELMS - Paul Ricard: The #41 Greaves machine of McMurry and Johnny Mowlem has retired.
Moto2 - Misano - results:

1 Tito Rabat
2 Mika Kallio
3 Johann Zarco
4 Maverick Vinales
5 Tom Luthi
6 Dominique Aegerter
7 Franco Morbidelli
8 Julian Simon
9 Axel Pons
10 Takaaki Nakagami
Moto2 - Misano: Rabat takes the flag 2.2s clear of Kallio for his seventh win of the season and third in a row.

That's going to bring his points lead up to 22 as well.

Even if Rabat wins we already know he'll be back in Moto2 next season, when his team-mate will be Alex Marquez... Having a category specialist like that alongside him will be a proper measure of just how good the younger Marquez is.
ELMS - Paul Ricard: Murphy newbie Pipo Derani maintains his lead ahead of Jota's Tincknell. Ben Barker made a great start in the Gulf Porsche and leads GTE after three laps.
Fog

Fog

Earlier this week we wrote about Honda taking its World Touring Car Championship Civic to this weekend's Nurburgring Nordschleife VLN race with Tiago Monteiro and Gabriele Tarquini in preparation for next year's WTCC race on the epic track.

It's going to be wasted trip: no VLN race this weekend due to the Nurburgring deciding it wasn't going to be out-fogged by the Lausitzring, as the picture shows.
Moto2 - Misano: Folger finally backs off and lets Morbidelli past, and does a masterful job not to let Simon and Axel Pons - who were right with the Italian - through as well.

But it's too late for Folger, he's still earned a ride-through penalty for failing to heed the penalty in time. He's heading for the pits now.
ELMS - Paul Ricard: Shunt already as McMurry hits the pit wall!
ELMS - Paul Ricard: And the we're off here at the picturesque - and very stripy - Le Castellet circuit.
Moto2 - Misano: Rabat makes it clear who's going to win this one, answering Kallio's spurt with some fast laps to pull out a 1.9s lead.
Moto2 - Misano: Lots and lots of pitboards being waved at Folger now.

And what he needs to do to obey the officials' instruction is getting harder too: the gap behind him is now 6s to a tight fight between Franco Morbidelli and Simon.
ELMS - Paul Ricard: We're almost ready to get going here at Paul Ricard. Here's our qualifying report from earlier if you want to know who starts where.
Moto2 - Misano: Rabat's lead grows as Kallio has a huge twitch and nearly pitches himself off his bike.

He catches it and is back up to speed. He definitely hasn't given up, has he?

Now the lead's coming back down... Five laps to go.
Pit signs at the Lausitzring.

Pit signs at the Lausitzring.

DTM - Lausitzring: The Lausitzring is a wacky old place. An evening stroll will reveal some gems such as the world's biggest windmill sitting directly behind the world's biggest grandstand, a motorhome area called 'Camp Speedway' (complete with American summer camp-style wooden arch on the way in), and, as pictured, some very old school pit box signs just hanging around.
Moto2 - Misano: Now he's in the lead, Rabat is escaping. His lead over Kallio is up to 0.8s and he looks more like a champion with every lap.

Further back, seventh-placed Jonas Folger has been ordered to relinquish a position due to track limits infringements.

That means slowing down to let Julian Simon catch up the current 4s gap and pass him. That won't be popular.

He has a notification on his dashboard as well as a pitboard being urgently waved by the AGR team.
Moto2 - Misano: Rabat slips past Kallio into the lead with nine laps left. Will he now escape or can Kallio strike back?

Goodwood Revival: Not long until AUTOSPORT's very own BEN ANDERSON is in action in part two of the St Mary's Trophy.

But in the meantime, we expect he's in here: the very civilised drivers' lounge.
DTM - Lausitzring: Every time there is a bit of weather around, expect Jamie Green to be near the front. He'll be starting third today, and if it's wet, will almost certainly be a pace-setter. Here's what he had to say about yesterday's weather-affected day of running.

"I think it's easier to over-think things when you've got too much time on your hands. You can over-analyse stuff. At the end of the day when you get on track, it just comes down to the same old things of the car, the balance, and your driving abilities.

"Today, I think, was a good test for everyone because we didn't have much time to feel our way in. We had to adapt to the conditions. It was a challenging qualifying but enjoyable at the same time.

"I'm pretty satsifed. I think pace-wise we weren't far away, and for sure there is a tenth or more left in my car. That's how it is in qualifying, sometimes you nail the lap, sometimes you don't quite get it. But I think from third I've got a good chance tomorrow."

The big question is this: if Green is quicker than Ekstrom in the opening stages of the race, will he be allowed past his fellow Audi? Or will team orders come into play?
Moto2 - Misano: As Kallio continues to keep Rabat at arm's length and Zarco runs a solid third, 2015 Suzuki MotoGP man (unofficially) Maverick Vinales is having a great dice with Dominique Aegerter for fourth.
DTM - Lausitzring: Here's a look at the full final grid, complete with starting tyre choices – which, unless there is a drastic change in the weather, will be not applicable as everyone will be on wets. Still, interesting that so few drivers are even bothering to consider gambling on standards for the first stint at this stage of the season...

Rusty bus

Rusty bus

WRC - Australia: Roughly halfway through the Shipmans stage, which featured twice in today's final leg, there's a house. It's hard to say if the house is an ongoing development project or falling down around its owner's ears.

The house probably warranted a picture, but the rusting Routemaster resting in the garden definitely did.

An old London bus was pretty high on the list of things we didn't expect to see in the middle of New South Wales nowhere.
Moto2 - Misano: Early third-place man Cardus had fallen to seventh and has now crashed out.
Moto2 - Misano: And it's happened again: Rabat keeps his pace up, Kallio's begins to fade, and the two Marc VDS bikes are right together for the lead.
DTM - Lausitzring: There's been a couple of grid penalties handed out overnight. Martin Tomczyk and Augusto Farfus were both found guilty of impeding other drivers while exiting pitlane during qualifying. Farfus will now start 20th, while Tomczyk will start last.
Moto3 - Misano: Continuing AUTOSPORT Race Centre Live's two-wheeled arm's habit of using an uneventful Moto2 race to talk about other stuff, here's what the Moto3 points table looks like after Rins and Marquez's photo-finish today:

Championship standings after 13 of 18 rounds:

1 Jack Miller 195
2 Alex Marquez 186
3 Alex Rins 175
4 Efren Vazquez 151
5 Romano Fenati 140
6 Alexis Masbou 134

(25 points for a win)

Pascal Wehrlein at the Lausitzring

Pascal Wehrlein at the Lausitzring

DTM - Lausitzring: Yesterday, Pascal Wehrlein (19 years old) became the youngest ever polesitter in DTM history. Here's what he had to say.

"It feels great. It was really hard today, the conditions were very tricky. We just put it all together. I had a very good lap, and I'm really proud.

"Today was not the best day for the drivers, because we only had 15 minutes free practice, and you can't really go for a good set-up. With the conditions, with everything, it was so difficult.

"You can't really do a lot. You have to have a good starting set-up, and then you can do some small things, because we only had a break of 30 minutes so it wasn't enough to change the whole car. So you have to have a good starting set-up, then get confident with the track, confident with the conditions and then put it together."
Moto2 - Misano: A notable change in the Caterham ranks this weekend.

American hope Josh Herrin, last year's AMA Superbike champion, has had a horrible, injury-wracked, point-less time in Moto2 and parted with the team after Silverstone.

Long-time Moto2 rider Ratthapark Wilairot is back in his place... and is running roughly where Herrin had been, in 25th.

Speaking of substitutes that made no difference, anyone noticed Alex de Angelis in MotoGP since he replaced Colin Edwards? Thought not.

Perhaps Aleix Espargaro is just exceptionally good on the other Forward Yamaha...
Moto2 - Misano: Kallio is trying to dismiss his rivals' chances from the outset and leads Rabat by 1.6s after just three laps.

But he pulled away early on at Silverstone (and elsewhere) this year only to kill his tyres and get reeled in.

Johann Zarco, on the Caterham Suter (and Tony Fernandes does still own the motorbike team), is now ahead of Cardus for third.

Porsche Golf Buggy

DTM - Lausitzring: While not strictly DTM related, we couldn't go past giving you a look at the official golf buggy of Germany's Porsche Carrera Cup. Imagine rocking up for 18 holes at your local course with your clubs on the back of this...
British F3 - Donington Park: This has been a very sorry season for British F3, but if nothing else at least the title battle is going down to the wire.

Matt Rao currently leads race two from Martin Cao, which will keep things open heading into this afternoon's season - and perhaps series - finale.
Moto2 - Misano: Kallio holds the lead at the start ahead of Rabat, as Ricky Cardus burst through from row three to third.

Tom Luthi had qualified third, only 0.004s off Rabat and 0.071s from pole, but he's fallen straight back to sixth.
Moto2 - Misano: We're on the warm-up lap for the Moto2 race now.

Mika Kallio, who slipped 17 points behind Marc VDS team-mate and title rival Tito Rabat with that dramatic Silverstone defeat, beat the Spaniard to pole by just 0.067s yesterday.
Goodwood Revival: A dramatic final lap in the 1950s F1 encounter as leader Julian Bronson's Scarab pulls off, leaving the Lotus 16 of Roger Wills to win. Coverage here.
DTM - Lausitzring: It's another very grey day here at the Lausitzring, but the good news is that the clouds, while constantly spitting out rain, are high enough that the medical helicopter isn't grounded.

We're just under 90 minutes from race time, and while Wehrlein made the headlines yesterday by becoming the youngest ever pole-sitter in the DTM, today it's all about BMW's Marco Wittmann. Starting from seventh, he'll be looking to wrap up the title with two rounds to spare.

So, how can he do it? To put it simply he has to stop Ekstrom or Mortara out-scoring him by more than 14 points. Even simpler, he needs to finish fourth. Even if Ekstrom or Mortara win the race, fourth will give Wittmann the title.
