Austria MotoGP qualifying

Rossi and Morbidelli have aborted this lap. Morbidelli was following his boss, as was most of the field. Bautista first across the line with a 1m25.106s.
Worth noting, wherever Franco Morbidelli qualifies, he will have to drop three places for riding slowly on the racing line during practice on Friday.
Unsurprisngly, everyone has headed out on a soft rear tyre. Some have opted for a medium front. Interestingly, Miller is still running the Ducati without the aero fairing, despite the hard acceleration nature of this Red Bull Ring.
Pole in 2018 has been shared by seven riders: Zarco in Qatar and France; Miller in Argentina; Marquez in America, the Netherlands and Germany; Rossi in Italy; Dovizioso last time out in the Czech Republic; Lorenzo in Barcelona; Crutchlow at Jerez.
The most notable scalp in Q1 is of course Valentino Rossi. The Italian admitted on Thursday Yamaha would maybe have to "suffer" at the Red Bull Ring this weekend. This has proven to be the case, and a place in Q2 is no guarantee for Rossi this afternoon.
A drying FP3 this morning meant the runners for Q1 were decided on Friday morning. Vying for a place in the pole shootout are:
Rossi
Espargaro
Bautista
Rins
Smith
Nakagami
Morbidelli
Miller
Redding
Abraham
Syahrin
Simeon
Luthi
FP4 has just come to a close, the first full dry session of the weekend since FP1 on Friday morning. Marc Marquez topped that one with a 1m24.139s from Ducati duo Jorge Lorenzo and Andrea Dovizioso. Avintia's Xavier Simeon crashed at the Rindt corner.
Good afternoon and welcome to Autosport's live coverage of the MotoGP Austrian Grand Prix qualifying session.
