Super Nova becomes Jordan junior team
Formula 3000 squad Super Nova, the most successful team in the history of the category, has become the official junior team of the Jordan Formula 1 squad
The team, renamed Jordan Grand Prix Junior Ltd, will compete in this year's F3000 championship in the familiar yellow and black livery of the Silverstone-based F1 outfit.
David Sears, team boss of the F3000 squad, said: "This new initiative will allow us to cross-pollinate sponsors and drivers for each other. I see it as an excellent working relationship from the start and hopefully a boost for the image of Formula 3000 in a difficult economic time."
Eddie Jordan said: "David and I have been talking for some time about the possibility of a collaboration between our teams and today's announcement marks the culmination of those discussions. We will work together on a number of fronts, developing driver programmes, encouraging sponsorship into the sport and providing technical assistance where relevant."
The deal means the return of the Jordan name to F3000. The team competed in the category from 1985-1991, winning eight races during that time.
The team has yet to sign any drivers for the coming season, but expressed a possibility that Giorgio Pantano could drive for the team, in a deal that would see him race in F3000 and test in F1.
