Lauda content after test

Matthais Lauda, son of three-time Formula 1 world champion Niki, pronounced himself pleased with his first ever Formula 3000 test at Imola at the weekend

After poor weather afflicted the test last Friday, the 24-year-old finally got down to some serious running on Saturday. He ended the test second quickest to Arden team-mate for the day, Jaroslav Janis.

"I was extremely impressed with the car which was much more powerful than I have previously experienced," said Lauda. "The conditions were quite difficult as there were parts of the track that never really dried but the car seemed well balanced and I really enjoyed my first experience in F3000."

Arden team boss Christian Horner said: "It was also interesting for us to see how Jarek [Janis] has developed during the past season; he recorded a time which I'm sure is very good for these conditions. Hopefully the weather will improve as we move south to Jerez."

Durango was the only other team present, with Yannick Schroeder and Rodrigo Ribeiro.

The next major F3000 test is at Jerez on November 5-7, when Arden will run Holland's Robert Doornbos amongst others.
