DAMS sign Monfardini for 2006
DAMS have signed former Durango and Coloni driver Ferdinando Monfardini for their GP2 squad
The Italian, whose best result last season was fourth in the second race at his home event in Monza, has been confirmed by the team for the whole 2006 season.
Monfardini impressed the French squad when he raced for them in the final World Series by Renault round at Monza in October.
DAMS GP2 owner Jean Paul Driot said: "We had three opportunities to test Ferdinando during the winter, two with the GP2 car in testing and one in real race condition at the World Series event.
"He was making part of our short list for 2006 as he has already one season of experience with the car with interesting results. The team has been impressed after these tests and both parties agreed quickly for 2006.
"Ferdinando will bring his experience of the GP2 car and DAMS is more than focused to help him getting the high results he deserves"
Monfardini says he is excited by the opportunity of driving with a winning team.
"This is one of the moments that all racing drivers are working towards, being with a winning organization like this," Monfardini said. "The right platform to get results and I am determined to do as much as I can, while doing the best possible job for the team.
"DAMS has shown many times that it is an excellent place for a driver to work and I intend to make the most of this opportunity."
