Chandhok on top at Paul Ricard
Indian iSport driver Karun Chandhok set the overall pace on the first day's testing for GP2 at Paul Ricard
Chandhok and Piquet Sport's Pastor Maldonado topped a session each in the final pre-season GP2 test.
Chandhok overcame windy conditions in the south of France to set a 1:12.717 in the morning, two tenths quicker than second-placed ART driver Romain Grosjean.
Maldonado got close to Chandhok's time in the afternoon session, posting a 1:12.790, which was a tenth quicker than Racing Engineering's Javier Villa. Chandok was third quickest in the second session.
The test continues tomorrow when the circuit will be switched to a shorter, twistier layout to help teams prepare for the third round of the championship in Monaco.
