ART 1-2 in final free practice

GP2's mad Monaco Friday started with reigning champions ART Grand Prix hitting form and scoring a one-two with drivers Lucas di Grassi and category debutant Sebastien Buemi in the second and final free practice session

Di Grassi lapped the principality in 1:21.540 in the half-hour session, which will be followed almost immediately by qualifying. Di Grassi outpaced Buemi, who is standing in for the injured Michael Ammermuller, by just 0.088s.

Championship leader Timo Glock was third fastest for iSport, ahead of yesterday's pacesetter Pastor Maldonado (Trident), who caught traffic on his final lap after a scorching first sector time.

Luca Filippi was a strong fifth for Super Nova, ahead of Andreas Zuber (iSport), Antonio Pizzonia (FMS), Nicolas Lapierre (DAMS), Javier Villa (Racing Engineering) and Andy Soucek (DPR).

The only true victim of the session was Xandi Negrao, who stuffed his Minardi/Piquet car into the wall on the exit of the swimming pool. With his right-front corner swiped off, it's going to take a miracle fix it in time for qualifying.

Ho Pin Tung did well to keep his BCN car out of the Rascasse barriers, although he caused Bruno Senna (Arden) to join him up the escape road. Tung went no further, but Senna rejoined to finish 17th, 1.7 seconds off the pace.
