Jarama 2: Second win for Montagny
Franck Montagny completed his domination of the opening weekend of the Dallara Nissan World Series at the Jarama circuit by taking victory in the second race of the day
The Frenchman demonstrated his absolute dominance of the field by finishing nearly 50s clear of second place man Marc Gene.
"I had the best car I ever had, so it was quite easy to win," said Montagny. "I hope it continues like that for the rest of the season."
Gene rebounded from his retirement in the first race to finish second, ahead of Heikki Kovalainen, who was responsible for taking out the Spaniard in the earlier race. The Finn had started from the last row of the grid, but charged through the field to earn his trip to the podium.
Bas Leinders had been holding down second until he spun late in the race, although he recovered to finish fourth. Narain Karthikeyan had a wild afternoon, enjoying several off-track moments, but he clung on to fifth position, ahead of Paul Edwards. The American's race was not without incident either as he ran wide at the first corner, dropping to the back of the field.
