Interwetten delay World Series plans

Formula Renault 3.5 team Interwetten Racing are the only team not to have yet committed to the championship as they wait for support from their financial backers before Renault approve their entry

The other 12 teams have submitted their entries to World Series by Renault organisers, but Interwetten boss Walter Raus says it could be another month before their plans are finalised.

"At the moment we are waiting for confirmation from Telmex that they will be onboard for next season, and they will come back to us at the end of January," Raus told autosport.com.

"From our negotiations I assume that they will put in just one driver (from their junior scheme) this season, so we are looking for a second, but before we can go into negotiations we will have to wait for the final decision from Telmex as they have the priority rights on the second cockpit.

"We have the covenant from Renault that we can participate next year as long as we clear our situation by the end of February."

Interwetten ran Telmex-backed Salvador Duran with funding from the Mexican telecommunications company last season and finished seventh in the teams' standings.

Series bosses have given the team until February 27th to complete their application.

Apart from Interwetten's current absence, the only other alteration on the list of 2009 entrants is a slight name change for Fortec Motorsport, whose Renault 3.5 team will carry the prefix Mofaz this year as a reference to Fairuz Fauzy, who scored a podium on his debut with the team at Monaco last year.

Fortec's Richard Dutton confirmed that Fauzy will be "coming in as a new financial partner," but full details of the arrangement will not be announced for some time.
