Bonanomi tops second WSR test
Marco Bonanomi set the fastest time in the afternoon session of yesterday's Formula Renault 3.5 collective test at Barcelona
The 23-year-old Italian, who has been racing in the GP2 Asia series this winter, snatched the top spot from Marco Barba in the final minutes of the session.
Bonanomi was pleased to make such good progress early in the test, especially as he has to miss the final day and a half to fly to Dubai for the GP2 Asia finale.
"It's really important to get into a good rhythm," he said. "I have a good feeling for the new car, even if I'm not yet completely at ease with the brakes.
"We should be even quicker tomorrow before I have to head off to Dubai, but the main thing is to be ready for Monza."
The conditions were ideal for the afternoon's running and the times were nearly two seconds quicker than those set earlier in the day.
Canadian Robert Wickens finished the afternoon in third place, while morning pace-setter Giedo van der Garde was bundled down to 12th place in the last hour.
