Later start in China for 2015-16 Formula E calendar
The second season of Formula E will start in Beijing this October, a month later in the year than the 2014/15 opener
The Chinese capital hosted the all-electric championship's inaugural race last September, only to be followed by a 10-week break owing to the cancellation of a race in Brazil and Malaysia's event being postponed by five weeks.
With the full calendar set to be released within the next 10 days, the 2015/16 season - which will feature the introduction of motor manufacturers - will commence in Beijing on October 17.
"We want to kind of compress the calendar, so we will start in October," Formula E CEO Alejandro Agag confirmed to AUTOSPORT.
"And we want to give a little bit more time to the manufacturers who are tweaking their motors."
The bulk of the calendar will be reasonably similar, however AUTOSPORT understands the Uruguay and Long Beach races won't reappear.
Pending final sign-off, Mexico City's Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez and Paris will join the schedule, with the latter set to start the championship's European leg in April.
As with the maiden season, Donington Park will host the major pre-season tests, with three, two-day sessions scheduled for August.
Formula E's second season could also feature more two-day events, with London's double-header finale on June 27-28 a test case for the format.
"We're looking at having more," Agag said.
"Obviously for a double-header you need the appetite of the public, so you need to fill the place for two days.
"London, definitely, we are seeing that we are selling a lot of tickets.
"So I think experience is showing that it might make sense to have one or two more double-headers."
