Van der Merwe tops Donington test

South African Alan van der Merwe set the pace in British Formula 3 testing at Donington Park yesterday (Thursday), outpacing Menu Motorsport driver Rob Austin by 0.151s

Van der Merwe headed another strong performance for Carlin Motorsport, which claimed three of the six fastest time from the session. Jamie Green was fourth quickest with Richard Antinucci, who was fastest in this week's earlier test at Rockingham, sixth.

Australian Will Davison was third fastest for Alan Docking Racing, with Danny Watts fifth for the new Hitech Racing team.

The most dramatic moment of the test came when Saif Hassan spun at McLeans, and found himself collected by Andrew Thompson. Both cars suffered significant damage in the accident.
