Silverstone 1: Piquet beats Carroll
Nelson Angelo Piquet is beginning to build a championship assault on the British F3 series after winning his second race in succession. The Brazilian fought hard to stay ahead of a charging Adam Carroll on the British Grand Prix circuit but for the first time this season, the winner didn't lead from start-to-finish
Robert Dahlgren made a blinding start to take the lead, but it turned out to be a bit too blinding and by lap five he was in for a stop-and-go for jumping the start.
As Dahlgren led, Carroll also passed pole man Piquet at the start, but as the two came on to the Hangar Straight on lap two, the Brazilian swept back past and was never again headed.
Carroll, clearly invigorated by his switch to Menu Motorsport, gave chase and pushed hard for the entire race but just didn't have enough to pass Piquet before the flag.
Danny Watts took third place ahead of Will Davison and Richard Antinucci with Carroll's team-mate Rob Austin sixth. Championship leader Alan van der Merwe was a lacklustre seventh while Carlin team-mate Jamie Green could manage no better than 11th. Karun Chandhok won the Scholarship Class.
