Sato: No regrets if I don’t win
Jordan Formula 1 star Takuma Sato says that he will have no regrets about deciding to race in the Macau Grand Prix if he does not win Sunday's blue-riband event
The British Formula 3 Champion was desperate to race in the annual end-of-season spectacular even though he signed his Jordan contract more than one month.
And after qualifying second to rookie Bjorn Wirdheim in qualifying on Friday, Sato is taking nothing for granted in his bid for victory.
"For me it wasn' t necessary to come back to F3 and race here in Macau, but for me it would be a wasted opportunity to improve if I didn't come," he said. "It is one of the biggest challenges of the year."
But if he is unsuccessful in Sunday's two-heated race, he claims he will have nothing to be sad about as long as he enjoys himself.
"This is a really tough race with a strong field. Everyone is desperate to win and it is not just me. If I win it will be fantastic and if I don't then I don't know how I will feel, but that is motor racing.
"Some people say that I have nothing to gain by racing here, but I don't care about that. The most important thing is that I want to race."
