Ricciardo strolls to Silverstone win

The Carlin driver made a clean start from his fourth pole of the year and romped home to an easy victory in a fairly uneventful race.

Team-mate Max Chilton made a poor start from the other side of the front row and fell back to fourth behind Hitech drivers Renger van der Zande and Walter Grubmuller.

Van der Zande stayed with Ricciardo initially, but fell back gradually during the first half of the race as Ricciardo pumped in some quick laps, including the fastest of the race on lap four.

Van der Zande fell away dramatically in the second half, eventually swapping positions with his title challenging team-mate Grubmuller with a quarter of the race to run - in turn allowing Ricciardo to build a winning margin of nearly 10 seconds.

After dropping places at the start, Chilton mounted a brief challenge on Grubmuller at the Abbey Hairpin but couldn't get by his rival. He held fourth for the remainder of the race - tucked up first behind Grubmuller's and then van der Zande's respective Dallara-Mercedes.

Chilton finished nine seconds clear of his Carlin team-mate Henry Arundel, who jumped Double R's Carlos Huertas on the first lap and spent the rest of the race with his mirrors full of the Colombian rookie.

T-Sport's Wayne Boyd, Fortec's Riki Christodoulou, Double R's Daisuke Nakajima and T-Sport's Adriano Buzaid ran in formation throughout to round out the top 10.

Gabriel Dias (T-Sport) kept his slim National Class title hopes alive by taking class honours in 11th overall, well clear of class rival Daniel McKenzie (Fortec), who wound up 14th after a difficult race.
