Race 2 qualifying: Glock dominates
Opel junior driver Timo Glock dominated the opening German Formula 3 Championship qualifying session of the season, which sets the grid for Sunday's second round
In wet conditions, Glock's KMS-run Dallara-Opel stopped the clocks in 1m03.698s - over half a second clear of former F3000 racer Jeffrey van Hooydonk's Mugen-powered Team Ghinzani Dallara. BSR's Frank Diefenbacher, another Opel protégé, was third fastest, ahead of Dutchman Charles Zwolsman in his Mugen-powered Team Kolles car.
England's Gary Paffett was fifth fastest in his Opel-powered Team Rosberg car, just pipping the second BSR car of Bernhard Auinger. Pre-season favourite Markus Winkelhock, who is using the new Mercedes engine in his Mucke Motorsport car, was 13th fastest.
Japanese star Kousuke Matsuura failed to qualify for the race as his best time was over 8secs off the pace. He suffered a big shunt in free practice earlier in the day.
Qualifying for tomorrow's opening round is held on Saturday morning at 11.00 local time (10.00 BST), with the race due to start at 16.30 (15.30). Sunday's race starts at 11.45 (10.45).
