Race 2 qual: Pole for Briscoe

Australia's Ryan Briscoe was a little concerned going into this weekend's Formula 3 Euroseries race at Pau, as he had never driven the demanding French street circuit before. He needn't have worried, though, as he set pole position for Monday's second race of the weekend

Alongside the Prema Powerteam Dallara-Opel driver will be local hero Nicolas Lapierre (Signature Plus) in his Dallara-Renault. Briscoe drove in the first qualifying session on Saturday afternoon, which was split into two groups, and the Toyota F1 test driver was only two thousandths of a second faster than Lapierre.

"I have a good feeling for this circuit," said Briscoe. "With the pole it will be possible to win the race, but even more important are the championship points."

Rookie Nico Rosberg (Team Rosberg) and Timo Glock from Germany share the second row of the grid in Dallara-Opels, with French ASM team-mates Alexandre Premat and Olivier Pla, both driving Dallara-Mercedes machinery, lining up on the third row.
