Norisring European 3: Felix Rosenqvist's fuel verdict overturned
Formula 3 European Championship title contender Felix Rosenqvist has been reinstated to this weekend's Norisring results after doubts emerged over the accuracy of the tests on his post-qualifying fuel sample
The Swede was racing under appeal from the grid positions he earned in qualifying when the Mucke Motorsport team elected to contest the verdict.
He finished second in both of Saturday's races, but was not included in the results. New results have now been issued with his reinstatement.
FIA chief steward Francis Murac explained: "The man who makes the analysis said there was a problem with car number 6 because the analysis was not the same as the reference sample taken at the start of the meeting.
"Mucke made an appeal, so in this case we decided to suspend our decision.
"This morning at 7.30 I had a call from Aral [the championship's fuel supplier], saying they were not 100 per cent sure that the fuel analysis is correct.
"They made a report and with my two colleagues we decided to reverse the decision, and the appeal money has been given back to Mucke Motorsport."
The new verdict leaves Rosenqvist 31.5 points adrift of championship leader Raffaele Marciello going into this morning's third race, which the duo will start from the front row of the grid.
