Nasr stripped of Brands poles

Officials have stripped Felipe Nasr of his maiden British Formula 3 pole positions for improving his lap times under yellow flags during this morning's qualifying session at Brands Hatch

The 2009 Formula BMW Europe champion improved twice in the final minute of qualifying to knock Carlin's James Calado off the top spot, but officials declared any times set during the final five minutes of the session to be void, owing to yellow flags being out at several points around the circuit.

Nasr (Raikkonen Roberston Racing), Calado, Hitech's Will Buller, Raikkonen Robertson Racing's Daisuke Nakajima, Litespeed's Jay Bridger, T-Sport's Alex Brundle, Carlin's Lucas Foresti, and Welsh pseudo privateer Hywel Lloyd have all had their best times erased.

That means Fortec's Daniel McKenzie, who finished up fourth fastest in the session, claims the first pole position of his F3 career for tomorrow afternoon's 40-minute 'feature' race, while his team-mate Oli Webb moves up from fifth to third. He will start today's 30-minute race from pole on account of his second best time.

Calado will start both races from the front row, despite losing his best time, while his championship winning Carlin team-mate Jean-Eric Vergne has been promoted from sixth to fourth fastest overall.

Raikkonen Robertson's Carlos Huertas is now fifth fastest, ahead of Carlin's Adriano Buzaid and Buller. Nasr drops to eighth, ahead of Carlin's Rupert Svendsen-Cook and Nakajima.
