Alex Lynn set the pace in testing ahead of this weekend's British Formula 3 Championship round at Rockingham
On a damp day at the Northamptonshire circuit, the 18-year-old Fortec driver had been only seventh and ninth quickest in the first two sessions, but leapt to the top of the timesheets in the third and final session in 1m36.935s.
Carlin driver Pietro Fantin was second overall in a time 0.729s slower, while third fastest was Hannes van Asseldonk in another of the Fortec Dallara-Mercedes machines. The Dutchman was fastest in the wettest of the three sessions.
Felix Serralles was fourth quickest for Fortec, ahead of championship leader Carlos Sainz Jr and his Carlin team-mates Jack Harvey and Harry Tincknell.
Fortec's Pipo Derani, T-Sport's Nick McBride and Carlin's title contender Jazeman Jaafar completed the top 10. Spike Goddard was quickest of the National Class contenders in 13th overall.
