Luca Ghiotto switches from FR3.5 to GP3 for 2015 season

Italian racer Luca Ghiotto will switch from Formula Renault 3.5 to GP3 for 2015, having signed a deal with Trident Motorsport

The 19-year-old graduated from FR2.0 to FR3.5 in 2014, finishing 17th in the standings with Draco last year.

He entered two GP3 rounds with Trident late last season - which included taking a shock pole position for his debut at Spa - and tested with the team post-season in Abu Dhabi.

Ghiotto said: "The reaching of this agreement with Trident makes me very happy.

"My objective for 2015 is to leave a mark in the GP3 category and I am convinced that we will be able to frequently hear the Italian national anthem on the podium."

Trident team principal Maurizio Salvadori added: "I am very happy to have Luca for next season - we have already demonstrated that we are able to obtain great results together.

"Luca's determination and speed are fundamental characteristics in order to perform well in GP3.

"If we add the fact that we have established a strong relationship and the desire to grow together, I am sure that success will be reached very soon."
