Hilmer replaces Russian Time in GP3 for 2014 season
Hilmer Motorsport will replace Russian Time in GP3 this season
Russian Time departs the GP3 field without making a race start, having acquired the Bamboo Engineering operation last winter before the death of team founder Igor Mazepa threw its plans into doubt.
The Motopark squad that had operated the Russian Time programme parted company with the team during the reorganisation after Mazepa's death.
Although iSport came in to run Russian Time's GP2 arm - which won the teams' title at the first attempt in 2013 - it declined to take on the GP3 squad too.
iSport chief Paul Jackson told AUTOSPORT last month: "It's going to be quite a big job to get the GP2 side up and running at such short notice, so we've said we'd rather not run the GP3 side under those circumstances."
Hilmer, which joined the GP2 fray at the same point as Russian Time last year, has therefore reached an agreement to take over its place in the GP3 entry.
Team boss Franz Hilmer said: "Since the establishment of Hilmer Motorsport in 2013 we wanted to build up and field a GP3 team.
"Now the opportunity has been presented to us and we took the chance.
"We would like to thank Russian Time and the GP3 organisation for making this possible so quickly because the new season will start soon.
"The creation of a GP3 team is the logical step in the development of young talents. Our target is to support and teach up-and-coming drivers in GP3 Series and help them to step up in higher racing classes."
Motopark had lined up Jimmy Eriksson, Marvin Kirchhofer and Markus Pommer as Russian Time GP3 drivers before that programme fell through. Eriksson and Kirchhofer subsequently secured seats with Koiranen and ART respectively.
