Healthy entry for Marlboro Masters

Despite Stewart Racing's decision to skip the event this year, the Marlboro Masters of Formula Three has still attracted a 47-car entry. The meeting takes place at Zandvoort on 8th August

The Stewart team have opted to focus on Luciano Burti's British series title bid, so the Brazilian and his team mate Andrew Kirkaldy will stay at home and prepare for the next championship round at Pembrey on 15th August.

British series leader Marc Hynes is on the Zandvoort entry list, but he needs to find more sponsorship before his participation can be confirmed. Narain Karthikeyan, Jenson Button and Matt Davies are among the other British championship frontrunners who will be in Holland.
.
The Marlboro Masters is the traditional annual showdown between the major European Formula 3 series, and the stars of the German, French and Italian series are all entering. Last season the French came out on top, eventual champion David Saelens beating the British teams. His ASM team return with three cars this year.

There are also some unusual names on the list. Jeremie Dufour, a frontrunner in the British series back in 1995, returns alongside Karthikeyan at Carlin Motorsport. Sven Heidfeld, younger brother of Mercedes protégé Nick Heidfeld, will drive for Bertram Schafer's team, while Formula Palmer Audi star Jeroen Bleekemolen makes his F3 debut at the event with Sigi Muller's GM DSF team.
