Hamilton and 7 Others Disqualified

The official revised results will be posted tomorrow morning but all eight have failed to comply with article 3.13 of the F3 Euroseries technical regulations regarding the permitted dimensions of the rear diffuser.

Officials have confirmed to Autosport-Atlas that all eight have accepted the decision of the Spa scrutineers and will not appeal.

The drivers disqualified are Lewis Hamilton (1st); Atila Abreu (7th); Sebastien Vettel (9th); Paul di Resta (10th); Richard Antinucci (12th); Thomas Holzer (20th); Greg Franchi (11th); and Lucas Di Grassi (retired).

Apparently, the diffusers were outside the permitted dimensions between 3mm and 15mm.

The purpose of the diffuser is to allow the air that has been accelerated under the car to decelerate back to a similar speed as it was before. The better the diffuser works, the less drag it produces and more ground effect and therefore downforce. If the dimensions are outside permitted areas, then a performance advantage could be gained.

ASM's Adrian Sutil inherits the victory, while Signature's James Rossiter has moved up to second.
