Green loses win due to tyre mix-up
Controversy has hit the opening round of the British Formula 3 championship, with race winner Jamie Green and team-mate Richard Antinucci both disqualified after a tyre mix-up by Carlin Motorsport
Post-race scrutineers discovered that Green had raced on the tyres Antinucci used for qualifying, and vice versa. Although no performance advantage would be gained, this violates the championship rules, and so both drivers were disqualified. Fellow Carlin driver Alan van der Merwe has inherited the victory.
The team accepts that it made a simple mistake and that it is in contravention of the rules. Carlin did appeal the decision, but its claims were rejected by the stewards.
