German team takes on Brits at Silverstone
The German GM Motorsport team will take on the best of the British Championship in the new Formula 3 International Invitation Challenge race that supports this year's British Grand Prix at Silverstone
The team, run by Siegfried Muller, will field two Toyota-powered Dallaras for Germany's Tony Schmidt and Austrian Hannes Lachinger, and they will face the cream of Britain's domestic series at Silverstone.
The non-championship event - organised by Octagon Motorsports, the MSA and the Formula Three Association (FOTA) - features current British championship leader Takuma Sato and his Carlin Motorsport team mate Anthony Davidson. Davidson won the coveted Pau Grand Prix earlier this month, and the winner of last year's BRDC McLaren Autosport Young Driver of the Year Award will be keen to add another major win to his CV.
All three Manor Motorsport cars of Derek Hayes, Jeffrey Jones and Mark Taylor will take on the Jaguar F3 Racing pair of Andre Lotterer and James Courtney. Drivers are as yet unconfirmed for the two Opel-powered RC Motorsport cars, but Team Avanti will field Adam Carroll alongside Matt Davies, Carroll graduating from Formula Ford for the event.
Former Team Avanti driver Milos Pavlovic will move to Fortec Renault for the event, which is scheduled to take place at 11am on the morning of Britain's round of the Formula 1 World Championship.
