Eng eyeing deal with Hitech
Philipp Eng hopes to make selected outings for Hitech Racing in British F3 this season after testing for the team at Croft this week
The Austrian, who won last year's Formula BMW World Final, is contesting the German F3 Cup this season, but stood in for the unavailable Max Chilton at the test and set the sixth fastest time over the two days.
He won't be able to race at Croft in two weeks because it clashes with the German F3 season opener at Hockenheim, but Eng still aims to race Hitech's currently vacant third car in as many British rounds as possible.
"I was very pleased with my test and had no problems adapting to the 08 car," he told autosport.com.
"I got on perfectly with the team, especially (Hitech boss) David Hayle who was my engineer, and I learned a lot considering the circuit was new to me as well.
"I can't race at Croft because it clashes with Hockenheim, but I would like to do as many races as I can in Britain this year. It will depend on my sponsor but he was impressed with the test and hopefully we can work something out."
Hayle told autosport.com: "At first I'd have been a bit sceptical about getting him in for races because I'd planned that if we were to have a third driver he would have to be experienced.
"But considering Philipp had a new car, new team, new track, and tyres, he did a brilliant job and I think he could be a good addition to the team. I'd certainly like to get him out for some races wherever his schedule allows."
