Davies set to stay with Promatecme
After weeks of speculation, British Formula 3 driver Matt Davies has decided to stay on with the works Renault Promatecme team until the end of the season
A string of disappointing results has led to friction between Davies and the Silverstone-based team after the 23-year-old had expected more from his second season in F3. Promatecme were one of the front-running teams last year with Jenson Button finishing third in the championship.
Insiders believed that the races at Donington last weekend could have been Davies' last for the team, however he appears to have settled his differences with Serge Saulnier's squad. Saulnier has taken over the engineering of Davies' car in recent weeks.
"The situation for Matt, especially because it's his second year of F3, is difficult because he expected better results," said Saulnier. "But it's important for everyone to stay together for the stability of the team and the image of the drivers."
Davies currently lies 10th in the championship with 32 points while Brazilian Antonio Pizzonia leads, 111 points ahead.
