Clarke Told Not to Wear Two Caps
Dan Clarke has been threatened with the loss of championship points should he wear two caps on the podium or post race press conference again
The Double R driver finished third in Croft's second race yesterday and put an Avon cap (British F3 title sponsor) over his Red Square cap (Clarke's own sponsor).
A bulletin was issued at the beginning of the weekend that during the podium and press conference 'only Avon caps were to be worn.'
Now Clarke, who lies fifth in the standings, has been told not to repeat the stunt or his championship chances could be under threat.
Championship coordinator Jeremy Lord said: "It is quite clear what the bulletin said and this is what is done in Formula One. Dan wore his sponsor's cap in the autograph session and there was no problem with that."
Clarke however defended the tactic: "It is unfair. How are we expected race in Formula Three if we cannot get sponsorship? We have to give sponsors exposure."
Clarke wore both caps when he finished on the podium in the season opener at Donington.
