British Formula Ford champion Dan Cammish eyes British F3 move
Runaway British Formula Ford champion Dan Cammish is eyeing a move to British Formula 3 for this season
Cammish, who won all 24 of his FFord races in 2013 with JTR, is working on a deal to represent the squad as it looks to British F3 for the first time since it ran team boss Nick Tandy in 2008 and '09.
The 24-year-old Yorkshireman made it clear that he has not yet called time on his British Touring Car Championship aspirations, and is also keen on British GT.
"I wanted to switch from single-seaters to tin-tops [BTCC or GT] because realistically I'm not going to be a professional single-seater driver," Cammish told AUTOSPORT.
"The thing is it's tough. I'm still chasing the tin-top route hard - BTCC is viable, GT is viable - but now this F3 stuff started to materialise to maybe do something, and budget-wise it seems sensible.
"Nick is adamant that his F3 experience got him where he is today, and I think it could help me seriously in the future if I'm looking for a touring car or GT drive."
Cammish is also confident that the late start to the British F3 season - it kicks off at Rockingham on May 4/5 - gives him time to sort a programme.
"We're waiting for people to get back to us, but it is an option," he said. "If other things don't materialise I still have time to put this together.
"This is a good time to compete in F3, and the rule changes for 2014 make it much more viable.
"I had a good year last year, and I'm confident I'll be on a good grid somewhere this season - I just don't know which grid it will be."
