Ferrari confirms protege Lance Stroll to race in European F3
Ferrari has confirmed that its protege Lance Stroll will race for Prema Powerteam in the 2015 Formula 3 European Championship, as predicted by AUTOSPORT last year
The 16-year-old Canadian won last season's Italian Formula 4 Championship with Prema, and is currently leading the New Zealand-based Toyota Racing Series.
Stroll joins 2012 McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award winner Jake Dennis at Prema, with the team still to announce two further drivers.
AUTOSPORT understands that Stroll's F4 and TRS team-mate Brandon Maisano will be one of them.
Prema took Esteban Ocon to the 2014 European F3 title in his first season at that level, and team boss Rene Rosin is confident Stroll will also cope well with the step up.
"After his phenomenal title run in the Italian F4 championship, in what was effectively his maiden open-wheel season, it was natural for us to continue the relationship with Lance," said Rosin.
"For him it will be the first time in an international car racing environment but I reckon he will be up to this new adventure.
"Winter testing has been extremely positive so far, also because Lance is a young guy able to listen and then put the advice into practice."
