Eight GP2 drivers given penalties
Eight drivers have been penalised for cutting the first corner following this morning's GP2 feature race in Monaco
Lucas di Grassi, Nico Hulkenberg, Javier Villa, Roldan Rodriguez, Edoardo Mortara, Luca Filippi, Kamui Kobayashi and Dani Clos all had 25 seconds added to their times after a post-race investigation by the stewards determined that they had breached Article 30.3.1 of the sporting regulations.
As a result of the penalty di Grassi has lost his third place, which has been awarded instead to Andi Zuber. The decision also moves Pastor Maldonado up to eighth and gives the Venezuelan pole for tomorrow's reversed-grid race at the expense of Villa, who has been dropped to 10th.
Zuber welcomed the decision: "The stewards did a great job, because they [Hulkenberg and di Grassi] cut the first corner. I think Nico took advantage because I was already side-by-side with him. Lucas didn't take an advantage, but he still cut the corner. It's difficult for the stewards, but I think they are completely right."
