Zonta to miss two races?
Local radio reports late in Sao Paulo say Ricardo Zonta has fractured a
bone in his foot and will miss at least two more Grands Prix.
The Brazilian is already officially ruled out of his home race but local
doctors have been quoted as saying that, barring a miracle, he will miss
the Imola and Monaco races and may even miss the event after that in
Spain.
Surgeons at the Du Prat Hospital were quoted as saying he had an "open
fracture" seven centimetres long on the top of his foot running from
between his third and fourth toes to near his ankle.
Surgeons, who operated on him for two hours, say it usually takes around 45
days for the bone to heal and he will only regain only 95 per cent of the
movement of the foot but his driving will not be affected.
BAR have said he will be out for between 10 and 40 days but other sources
believe it will be closer to 40. The news only added to BAR's woes, coming
hours after teammate Jacques Villeneuve was put to the back of the grid for
unwittingly breaking the fuel regulations.
