Zanardi homesick for US racing

Williams' troubled Indycar champion Alex Zanardi has admitted he is missing racing in America

And he has openly confessed that after thousands of miles of testing and five Grands Prix he has not fully come back to terms with a Formula One car yet.

Zanardi, won two Indycar titles, before signing for Williams this season but is yet to score a point in F1.

'I have not fully adjusted to Formula one yet. But then you are always learning.

'Every driver learns something out of every event and that won't stop until I stop driving. I still have a lot to learn. But when the car runs without problems I am quite competitive.

'I have various problems, especially to drive the car with these cold tyres

'I miss the competitiveness of the car I had under me last year. But no-one at Williams is pleased with the competitiveness of the car.

'All I can ask them is to work flat out to bring and they are and have a
faith in their competitiveness and I do.'

He said the much-maligned Supertec engine was not totally to blame.

'We are more than a second behind the fastest cars and when you are that far behind it is not just down to the engine.'

But the man who won last year's Canadian Indycar race added, 'I have always been luckier on this side of the Atlantic, let's hope I am happier on Sunday night.'

'I hope I have reached the top of the peak of my bad luck and it starts to go down from here.'
