Wurz: more to come from Williams

Austrian Alex Wurz believes the Williams team will get close to the top of the field if they continue with their progress

The British squad have bounced back from a dismal 2006 and have looked strong so far, having scored seven points in the first five races of the season. Last year the team scored 11 points in total.

Wurz admits he has not been surprised by Williams' resurgence, and the Austrian believes there is more to come from the team.

"No. Not at all," said Wurz when asked if he was surprised by Williams' form.

"It is where I thought we will be, because when you come from last year, Williams finished eighth in the constructors', with the current competition out there and involvement of manufacturers and the reliability of the teams you cannot turn it around overnight, but the pace of the team has really moved a long way from last year.

"There is a very strong group of people who work well together, there are no egos involved and they all have one goal, to move forwards, which is very motivating. I think with a bit of time Williams will definitely move forwards if we keep the patience and the motivation.

"And I don't see any reason why we shouldn't, but the competition in F1 is so tough, every hundredth of a second. We need to concentrate and get on with what everyone is good at, which is making the car quicker."

Wurz scored his first points of the season at the Monaco Grand Prix, where he finished in seventh position.

The veteran racer, who has been generally outshone by teammate Nico Rosberg this year, said he was not feeling any pressure to get his first points.

"I wasn't tense before, I knew it was just a matter of time before the points coming," said Wurz. "I didn't have trouble before in terms of speed or setting up the car, I was working well and I was a bit unlucky in the first few races.

"Monaco played into my hands and had a good race with the one-stop strategy. Got my first points for Williams and that was good."
