Webber stung by penalty

Mark Webber will have one second added to his qualifying time as a result of a yellow flag infringement in the second session of free practice on Friday, according to race stewards

Jaguar drivers Webber and Bjorn Wirdheim both set their quickest sector times of the session in the area where a yellow flag was being displayed to warn that marshals were recovering Felipe Massa's Sauber between the Nurburgring's Turns 9 and 10.

Massa had come to a stop after marshal post 32, which waved double yellow flags. Post 31 was waving a single yellow at the same time, as was post 29, but that flag, the drivers claimed in a briefing, was not visible to all the drivers.

Both Webber and Wirdheim claimed that the distance between post 31 and the incident was too short to be of relevance but the stewards estimated the distance at 200 metres and said that the Jaguar drivers were clearly in breach of the international sporting code. Wirdheim, who of course only takes part on Friday, received a reprimand.

Webber was 14th quickest in Saturday morning's free practice session, and the addition of 1s to his time would have dropped him to 19th, quicker only than team mate Christian Klien.
