Valencia circuit to be tested in July

The Valencia street circuit will be put to the test a month before Formula One's first race at the new venue when it holds a round of the Spanish Formula 3 and International GT Open championships

The president of circuit promoter Valmor Sports, Fernando Roig, believes the races on July 26-27 will be an important test of the facilities to make sure the new circuit is in perfect condition to host a Grand Prix.

"These races will be a test for the asphalt, the track, the access, and all the installations for the organisation in general," he said. "Besides, the racers will become the first to drive on the Valencia Street Circuit."

Former sportscar racer Jesus Pareja, the boss of event promoter GTSports, added: "The Valencia Street Circuit is going to be an emblem and a reference in the motor racing world and I have never known such expectation for a race."

Organisers expect 20,000 spectators to turn out for the F3 and GT races next month.
