Trulli admits Toyota needs miles

Jarno Trulli believes Toyota can round off a frustrating season with a points-scoring finish in the Brazilian Grand Prix, providing that it gets enough mileage in practice to allow him to set-up his car properly

Although the Italian impressed in his debut for the Japanese manufacturer in Japan by qualifying sixth, his chances of scoring at Suzuka were dashed in the race by excessive tyre drop-off - caused in part by the lack of practice miles he had to get on top of car balance.

That is why Trulli is hoping that Interlagos practice runs troublefree this weekend - especially because he has only had four days of testing in the car to get on top of the TF104B's characteristics.

"I am confident that we will enjoy a better race weekend in Brazil," said Trulli. "Suzuka was my first grand prix for Toyota and with any debut comes the added pressure of having to learn new things, most notably getting to grips with a new car in race conditions.

"The main hindrance in Japan was the lack of running we completed prior to qualifying and the race, so I hope we can get straight down to business at Interlagos on Friday. We have to get the TF104B set up properly in the practice sessions to give us a chance in the race itself."

Trulli will be joined by local driver Ricardo Zonta for this weekend's race, having raced alongside Olivier Panis in Japan.
