Todt: Stability is our strength

Ferrari team principal Jean Todt believes that his world championship-winning squad can continue its stunning record of success with its new F2004 design, despite admitting that it is facing tough opposition

Speaking at the launch of the new machine, Todt outlined his hopes for the new season, which starts on March 7 in Australia. He believes that the strong foundations laid by previous successes will help it achieve further glory.

"We have really good expectations for this year, although we know that the competition is very, very strong," said Todt. "We don't want to say it [the competition] is going to be stronger than ever, but it will be a very close year.

"Part of the reason for our success is we have great stability, it is our strongpoint. The key members of our team have very clear roles. We have a very stable team and this will allow us to reach our goals.

"The accumulation of our experiences and successes have guided this car. We met with the president this morning to discuss the goals for this year, and the tone of the discussion was impatience and the will to win now. You get the impression we have forgotten about our five constructors' titles and four drivers' titles with Michael Schumacher, which makes him the most rewarded driver in history."
